Wallace and Gromit Wiki

DreamWorks Pictures is an American film company that produces and distributes films. The company was founded on 12 October, 1994, by Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen.

DreamWorks Pictures and Aardman Animations[]

In December 1999, Aardman Animations partnered with DreamWorks Pictures, with the latter agreeing to co-finance and distribute Chicken Run, which was released in 2000. DreamWorks distributed the film outside Europe to countries such as the United States and Australia, while Pathé distributed the film within Europe to countries such as the United Kingdom. On October 1999, DreamWorks and Aardman signed a $250 million contract to produce four other films.[1][2] Later on, in 2005, DreamWorks and Aardman released Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit. It was the second (and currently the last) DreamWorks Animation films to win an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. The other being Shrek, which in turn was the first animated movie to win such an award. In 2006, the following year, the companies released Flushed Away, Aardman's first computer-animated film.

After the release of that film, DreamWorks and Aardman decided to end their contract due to creative differences between the companies. The fourth film, as part of the contract, which was going to be produced by Aardman, ended up being cancelled. The film was going to be called Crood Awakening, later being reworked into The Croods as they retained the rights.

Aardman would later make their own caveman movie in Early Man. They would also release follow-ups to their two most successful DreamWorks films without their involvement in Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget and Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl.
