The Labour Assistant Device, or L.A.D. for short, is one of Wallace's inventions who first appeared in Wallace & Gromit's World of Invention. He is a robot (though not necessarily a male) who assists Wallace with his laboratory as a substitute for Gromit when the latter cannot do the work. He later appears in Wallace & Gromit: The Big Fix Up where Wallace constructs a gigantic version, known as the BIG LAD.
